Design a Social Media Strategy Plan

A structured and scalable social media approach designed to help ABC strengthen its online presence and connect with local businesses more effectively.

Understanding the Need

ABC did not have an established social media structure in place, so my goal was to design a plan that could be implemented gradually and sustainably. The plan needed to highlight ABC's key messages while fitting the capacity of a small team.

Building the Strategy

I created a multi-platform strategy focused on:

LinkedIn as the primary professional channel
Facebook for community engagement
YouTube for long-form or event-related content
The strategy included content themes, posting frequency, tone of voice, audience focus, and visual guidelines.

I also proposed a Phase 1 approach — starting small with essential updates and gradually expanding once engagement grows and resources increase.

Using framework & planning tools

I applied strategic planning tools such as:

SWOT Analysis to understand ABC's strengths, audience opportunities, and external challenges
SMART Objectives to create measurable and realistic goals
Example: "Increase LinkedIn engagement by 15% through consistent weekly updates focused on stakeholder messaging."

Outcome & Implementation Potential

The social media plan provides ABC with:

A clear posting structure for each platform
A consistent brand voice aligned with its communication strategy
Ready-made content ideas for weekly and monthly scheduling
A realistic roadmap that a single person or small team can manage
The plan has been approved and ready for future implementation as ABC expands its digital focus

What I learned

Designing this plan helped me understand how digital strategy connects with organisational goals. I learned how to adapt content planning for limited resources, how to build phased rollout plans, and how to align digital messaging with broader communication objectives.
